A -- A-DESIGN IMPROVEMENTS TO CARBON-CARBON CONTROL SURFACE TEST COMPONENT SOL 1-116-DSL1078 DUE 041495 POC Bid Distribution Office,(804)864-2547. This procurement is being solicited under the NASA LaRC Mid-Range Pilot Test Program. A Request for Offer (RFO) is expected to be released mid-March. Proposals will be due approximately thirty (30) days after release of RFO. This procurement is to develop a design improvement to a carbon-carbon control surface test component that is presently being tested at the Dryden Flight Research Facility. Two designs will be developed. One design is to include a carbon-carbon torque tube and the other design is to include a carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide torque tube. Two sub-component test articles will be fabricated--one for each of the design concepts developed. NASA Langley will test the two sub-components and determine the best design. The design selected by NASA Langley will then be incorporated into the carbon-carbon control surface test component. The effort will be conducted in two phases. Phase I will include the design and fabrication of the two sub-component test articles. Phase II will include the design and fabrication required to incorporate the selected design into the carbon-carbon control surface test component. The requirement will be a firm fixed price contract, with a performance period of twenty-four (24) months. (0054)
