Carter, 907/753-2551 Description of work to be performed: Perform maintenance dredging and disposal of a maximum 30,000 cubic yards of material from the northern 2.9 miles of navigation channel within Wrangell Narrows (the Turn Point vicinity)--a rocky gorge forming a slender 24-mile long passage near Petersburg, Alaska. The channel is 300 feet wide; varying to approximately 650 feet at the bend vicinity. Project depths are -24.0 and -27.0 feet MLLW; Approximately depths of material to be removed are between one and three feet. Some material is accumulated in areas adjacent to underwater rock formations. Material disposal will be north of the channel entrance within a specified deep water area in Frederick Sound. The center of the disposal area is approximately 2,000 feet from the beginning of the channel. The contractor is to furnish all labor, equipment, supplies, materials, supervision and all other items necessary to accomplish the work. The work period will be from 16 June through 31 August 1995.
