The National Park Service, Harpers Ferry Center, intends to conduct negotiations on a sole source basis with Navy Arms Company, Ridgefield, New Jersey for providing seventy-five (75) reproduction model 1866 US rifles including bayonet and delivery to Fort Larned National Historic Site, Kansas. The U.S. Breech-Loading, Allin Conversion Rifle was designed by Erskine S. Allin in 1866. The rifle components contain the following: 50 caliber centerfire; 40'' Civil War barrel bored to larger diameter with a liner tube of 50 caliber inserted and brazed; three barrel bands with band springs; and Breechblock marking 1866 over American eagle.
