This requirement is intended as a sole source research and development effort for the Russian National Academy; Moscow Russia, to review and report on existing Russian technology with regard to generating air at ultrahigh pressures, expansion of the knowledge base of air properties at very high pressures through the addition of Russian experimental and analytical data, and investigation of Russian research applicable to the radiative heating of a supersonic stream. The contractor shall review, collect and provide available Russian experimental data and theoretical models of air at pressures up to 10,000 atm; analyze the results of Russian and other investigations of physical and chemical kinetics of gas mixtures; Consider the effects of thermal nonequilibrium in the rapid expansion of air in hypersonic nozzle flows; Review and analyze possible heat energy addition methods including high power lasers, ultra-high frequency magnetrons and powerful microwave discharge; and Develop a model to numerically simulate two dimensional real viscous gas flow in a nozzle with local heat addition. The performance period for the requirements is 11 months after award. This effort is in support of an on going research project by Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey. (0060)
