Subcontract Administrator A -- DIAMOND WIRE CUTTING OF THE TFTR
TOROIDAL FIELD COIL CUTTING MOCK-UP. The Princeton University Plasma
Physics Laboratory (PPPL) seeks interested and qualified small
businesses (SBs) capable of demonstrating diamond wire cutting
technology. The applicable SIC is 3541, Machine Tools, Metal Cutting
Types, and the applicable size standard is 500 employees. Specifically,
PPPL is interested in subcontracting with a small business to perform
a documented test using diamond wire cutting technology. The test will
involve cutting a mock-up of the TFTR Toroidal Field (TF) Coil and
Coil Case. The TF Coil Cutting Mock-up has a square cross section. The
center of the section contains the conductor portion of an actual TFTR
TF Coil. The conductor portion consists of two columns of Oxygen Free
Copper conducting bars. Each bar is surrounded by glass reinforced
epoxy and has a center cooling channel. The conductor portion is
encased with 2.44 inch thick Nitronic 33 plate. Results of the test
will be used for the TFTR Shutdown and Removal (S&R) engineering and
planning effort for vacuum vessel segmentation. Specific requirements
are set forth in RFP No. 95-067K. The anticipated release date for the
solicitation package is March 14, 1995. Subcontract award is to take
place in May, 1995, subject to the availability of funds. This notice
