The Federal Government currently satifies its inter-city telecommunications services through the FederalTelecommunications System 2000 (FTS2000) contracts which expire in 1998. The Department of Defense (DOD) satisfies its inter-city telecommunications servicesthrough the Defense Commercial Telecommunications Network (DCTN) as well as other major network contracts that expire in the 1996 to 1998 time range. As a part of the process for continuing open dialogue related to Post-FTS2000 telecommunication services, the government is talking to industry concerning Electronic Messaging and other Value Added Telecommunications Related Services, General Technology Issues, Organization & Management, Network Management, New & Emerging Telecommunications Technology, Telecommunications Service Pricing and Tariffing, & Billing & Information Access. This notice is to solicit written comments on the above subjects relevant to the Post-FTS2000 services from all interested Information Technology firms and industry associations. The Government's direction as a result of this process will be reflected in its draft requests for proposal issued later this year. It is requested that comments be provided in hardcopy and on 3.5'' MS-DOS formatted floppy diskettes containing MicroSoft Word v6.0 or earlier.
