The extensometer requires a furnace for heating one (1) 10-500 Micron Diameter Fiber to 1800 degrees Celsius in Argon at slightly above ambient pressure down to a vacuum of 10 to the minus 6th power Torr. Fiber shall be mechanically loaded (while being heated) and evaluated by a laser beam. The system shall mount within an existing Instron Load Frame, Model 4502, with 16 inches inside and 46 inches high (open cross-head) dimensions. Additional information shall be provided in the RFO. Delivery to Cleveland, Ohio 44135. Delivery schedule is 180 calendar days after contract award. The date set for opening of bids is approximate.
