Diego CA 92152-5113 70 -- NETWORK FILE SERVER SYSTEM. PART 1 OF 2. SOL REF NO. 2258 POC
Purchasing Agent, Chris Lewis, (619)553-4465. Contracting Officer, P.A.
Brown. Bid Clerk, J.C. Norris, (619)553-4331. Specifications: The rack
system will consist of two independent CPUs each with their own drive
arrays (each drive array consisiting of 5-2.1GB disk drives): See
ProLiant 4000R Specifications. The two independent CPUs will be in a
fault tolerant configuration, one CPU redundent to the other. The rack
system will include the items listed in the Site Planning Report,
Order Info List and Rack Graphic reports attached. A total of three
rack systems are required. KEY FEATURES: Standard 19'' rack mountable
form factor--7U (12 1/4'') high--Easy access to internal components--Up
to four Pentium 100Mhz system processor boards--TriFlex System
Architecture--64MB Advanced ECC RAM expandable to 512MB--Integrated
Fast SCSI 2 Controller--Ten storage device bays (seven external hot
pluggable)--Full-Spectrum Fault Management--Installed NetFlex-2 ENET-TR
Controller and CD-ROM drive--Fourteen total expansion slots: eight
8-/16-/32-bit EISA bus master slots, four processor slots, one 128-bit
memory slot, one management modem--NetWare supported. PROLIANT 4000R
SPECIFICATIONS: System Certifications: ISO 9000 Certified--Novell
Certified (support for NetWare 3.X, and 4.X)--Microsoft Certified
(Microsoft Windows NT and NT Advanced Server)--Banyan Vines Certified
(v.53 and above)--SCO Certified (Open Desktop v3.0, UNIX, and Open
Server)--IBM OS/2 (v2.1 and above. Processor(s): Support for Pentium
100MHz processor. Must be field upgradable to dual, triple, or quad
Pentium processors, and future Pentium processors. Option for 2Mb of
3rd-level cache. Cache controller and cache memory may not be shared by
multiple CPUs. System Housing/Design: All system components must be
housed in a 19'' rackmount-type configuration. Mounting system must be
able to support all system components including: CPU; disk drives;
tape drive; keyboard; mouse; and monitor. The system should include a
switching device to allow multiple servers, if installed, to share the
same keyboard, mouse, and monitor, without suspending the system's
usage. The mounting system must include all necessary hardware for the
component's installation. Cooling must be provided to meet the
hardware manufacturer's specifications. System Architecture: System
must be designed for maximum throughput and efficiency. System should
offer a 64-bit CPU bus, 32-bit I/O bus, and 128-bit bus to main memory.
Maximum throughput to main memory should be in excess of 250Mb/sec.
Memory: 64Mb of Advanced Error Correcting memory using industry
standard SIMMs. Advanced ECC memory must be able to correct single,
dual, and four adjacent bit errors, without causing the system to fail.
Memory speed to equal or exceed 70ns. Maximum memory expansion
capability must exceed 500Mb. Cache: Minimum of 256Kb 2nd-level,
external write-back cache per installed CPU, each its own cache
controller. Data path to CPU must be 64-bits or greater. Processor
above 66MHz must offer a 3rd-level cache to exceed 1Mb per CPU, each
with its own cache controller. Internal Expansion Slots: Minimum of
eight 32-bit EISA bus-mastered expansion slots. At least six of these
must be available after configuration. Dedicated processor, memory, or
management slots are not included. Interfaces: Internal and external
32-bit Fast SCSI-2, one parallel, two serial, keyboard, mouse, and
video. Power Supply: Minimum 400 watts. Power supply must provide
redundancy allowing for a power supply failure without
system/software/operation interruption. Hard Drive Controller: Supplied
hard drive controller must be 32-bit EISA card offering RAID 0,1,4, and
5, independent of the operating system being used. Controller must
provide automatic rebuild, without operator intervention, when a failed
drive is replaced. Controller must have an accelerator chip installed
to speed performance and offer a minimum of 2Mb of cache that is
mirrored and battery backed-up. Controller must be able to support 14
drives off of two separate SCSI channels for hard drives that are
located either inside the server or in an external cabinet.
Controller's operation must be independent of the operation system that
is installed and provide an option to maintain an on-line spare, if
desired. Internal Storage Bays: Maximum of seven internal, hot
swappable drive bays and three accessible access bays. Storage
System/Devices: Support for XX 1.05Gb or 2.1Gb Fast SCSI-2 hard drives,
3.5'' 1.44Mb diskette drive, dual-speed CD-ROM drive using the
integrated SCSI interface. (0061) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0389 19950303\70-0003.SOL)
