70 -- UPGRADE OF A SEQUENT S2000/450 MINI COMPUTER POC Contact: Contracting Officer: Kathy P. Klein, Ph: (304) 264-2566 The U.S. Coast Guard intends to place a delivery order against GSA Contract #GSOOK94AGS5664 on a sole source basis for the upgrade of a Sequent mini computer (S2000/450) to operate as the development and backup suite for the Law Enforcement Information System (LEIS). This upgrade is necessary to obtain sufficient memory and disk capacity to enable the Sequent 2000/450 to run on a 24 hour basis in emergency situations as the primary operational suite. This Sequent upgrade is believed to be the only reasonable and cost-effective solution. The alternative is to buy a new minicomputer with a UNIX operating system for the LEIS at the Operations Systems Center (OSC) in Martinsburg, West Virginia. This acquisition is for the following: (1) 192 MB Memory Expansion Board, (1) 64 MB Memory Controller, (1) 12-slot, 3.5'' PBAY, (1) QCW-CTLR-07 Wide SCCI Controller, (1) CBL-0750-QP 7.5M cable, (4) 4.5GB Disk Drive for EXP-PBAY-03 and (2) DSL-LPTP-01 Layrd product for disk, (2) TPU-4mml-02 4mm DAT Tape Drive and (2) TPU-4MTP-21 Layered product for DDS-2, 1 COMM-1002-30 Sequent Volume Manager for /4x0, (4) PRO-0085-00 Dual 50Mhz 60486 CPU and corresponding System Installation. The government requires delivery within 30 days after contract award. Other firms who can furnish this equipment at prices, terms and conditions equal to or better than those which appear in the GSA Schedule, are invited to submit clear and convincing data substantiating their capability to furnish the entire requirement. This information, including GSA Schedule Contract, if applicable, and firm pricing information, must be received within 15 days after publication of this notice. Vendors failing to provide complete information for an accurate comparison against the above referenced schedule contract will not be considered. All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. As a result of analyzing responses to this synopsis, the Contracting Officer may determine that a solicitation will be issued. If no affirmative written responses, which clearly demonstrate the existence of comparable alternative sources, are received within 15 days after publication of this notice, a delivery order will be placed with Ogden against their GSA Schedule contract. All responses must be in writing to the above address, ATTN: Kathy P. Klein. See Numbered Note 22. (0061)
