The Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for continuation of science, software, and engineering support needed for space-based and ground-based optical experiments whose purpose is to derive physical parameters about the upper atmosphere, middle atmosphere, and solar atmosphere. Atmospheric parameters include altitude profiles of densities ( Nitrogen, Oxygen(molecule), and Oxygen (unstable) in the upper atmosphere and species such as Ozone, Oxygen(molecule), Nitrogen Dioxide and Water in the middle atmosphere), temperatures, and solar EUV. Solar parameters include temperatures, ion abundances, and radiation ouput characteristics as a function of time from soft X-ray to UV wavelengths. The offeror must demonstrate a minimum of five years experience in each of these areas: Research in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics, solar-terrestrial physics and atmospheric sciences, Satelites, Rockets and Ground Based Facilities and their use to obtain behavior of the ionosphere and the upper and lower atmosphere, hardware, analysis and management of space and ground based optical experiments, Theoretical Investigations involving the modeling of processes in the upper and middle atmosphere. The period of performance for this effort will be a base year (12 months) and four (4) option years. The contractor's personnel must have a TOP SECRET clearance to do the above stated work.
