J -- REPAIR SERVICES OF MONITORS, PROCESSORS, KEYBOARDS & CIRCUIT CARD ASSEMBLIES POC Phyllis Townsley, Contracting Officer, (405) 954-7816 The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a requirement for overhaul/repair services of equipment manufactured by Sun Microsystems, Inc. consisting of the following: an estimated annual quantity of 7, each, Monitor, 16-Color, P/N 365-1075; 8 each, Processor, IPX, P/N 4/50N-16-P43; 3 each, Country Kit (Keyboard) P/N X354OU; 4 each, CCA, Serial Control P/N X1008A; and 3 each, CCA, Expansion P/N X116U. Repairs will be required at the rate of 1-8 within 45 days from receipt of the order. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code is 7629. Requirements include option provisions to renew for one (1) additional 1-year periods. The proposed contract will incorporate FAR Clause 52.217-8, Option to Extend Services and FAR 52.217-9, Option to Extend the Term of the Contract. These overhaul/repair services are only known to be available from Sun Microsystems, Inc. Mountain View, CA, because they hold the data rights and repair specifications for these items. Repair specifications cannot be developed due to proprietary rights of Sun Microsystems, Inc. These items are critical components in the Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) sytem; therefore, items must be repaired to original manufacturers specification in order to be compatible with existing TDWR systems. The Government does not have technical data, plans, drawings or specifications required for full and open competition. To receive consideration as a potential repair source, any other concern must provide in writing a complete set of system specification drawings, all required standards and testing specifications, test plans, part lists, and proof of rights to use the data. Statements that data wil be obtained or that specifications or drawings will be developed are not acceptable. If a concern is going to submit the above referenced documentation also provide name and telephone number of a point of contact to the procuring office listed in this notice with reference made to market survey file 76-0003, to arrive within 45 calendar days from the date of this publication. All responses to this market survey will be considered prior to further acquisition action by the Government. Any information received as a result of this announcement will not be provided to other contractors and will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The final determination by the Government not to open this requirement to competition, based on any information provided, is solely within the discretion of the Government. (0061)
