59 -- MULTILAYER INSULATION MATERIAL SOL 8-P-5-21-86209 POC Contact Glynda H. Meeks, GP26J, 205-544-9080/Contract Specialist, or W.H. Keith, GP24/Contracting Officer NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for Multilayer Insulation Material -- Item 1. Beta Cloth, aluminized, teflon impregnated glass fiber cloth meeting the following specifications -- The fabric shall be a premium quality plain woven, untreated fiberglass cloth with the Bein yarn meeting the requirements of MIL-Y-1140 except the minimum breaking strength of the yarn shall be 4 lbs -- Thickness: -- The fabric thickness shall be 0.008 plus or minus 0.002 inches -- Polytetrafluoroethylene coating: -- The glass fabric shall be coated on both sides with PTFE resin -- After treating the fabric with PTFE resin and post- treating as required, surface treat one side to render suitable for metallizing -- Metallized Coating: - Metallized coating, minimum of 300 angstroms, shall be vacuum deposited pure (99.99%) aluminum -- Item 2 -- Double Aluminized, 1.0 Mil Polyimide, 2.8% perforated meeting the following specifications -- The base film shall be a polyimide polymer, conforming to MIL-P-46112, Type I requirements, with aluminum coating that is uniform in quality and condition, perforated after coating -- Thickness -- The material thickness after metallizing shall be 0.001 plus or minus .0002 inch nominal -- Coating Material -- The metallized coating shall be vacuum deposited pure (99.99%) aluminum onto the base material -- Item 3 -- Double aluminized 0.3 Mil Polyimide, 2.8% perforated -- The base film shall be a polyimide polymer, conforming to MIL-P- 46112, type I requirements, with aluminum coating that is uniform in quality and condition, perforated after coating. -- Thickness - The material thickness after metallizing shall be 0.0003 plus or minus .0001 inch nominal -- Coating Material -- The metallized coating shall be vacuum deposited pure (99.99%) aluminum onto the base material -- Item 4 -- Double Aluminized Nomex Net Reinforced, 0.5 Mil Polyimide, 1.0% perforated meeting the following specifications -- Material shall be reinforced prior to coating and may be embossed or perforated after coating -- Base Film - Composition - The base film shall be a polyimide polymer, conforming to MIL-P-46112, type I requirements, with aluminum coating that is uniform in quality and condition.-- Thickness - The material thickness after metallizing shall be 0.0005 plus or minus .00015 inch nominal -- Aluminum Coating - The metallized coating shall be vacuum deposited pure (99.99%) aluminum onto the base material -- Reinforcement - Reinforcing scrim shall be natural color Nomex yarn of 200 denier having no finish - The reinforcing yarn shall be bonded to the base film using an adhesive with a minimum peel strength of 150 grams per one inch of width on the coated side prior to aluminum metallizing -- This procurement is being conducted under the NASA/MSFC MidRange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy on April 16, 1993 -- Requests for copies of the RFO must be submitted in writing-- Transmission by facsimile to 205-544-9080 or by Internet e-mail to glynda.meeks@msfc.nasa.gov is acceptable -- RFO will be released on or about 15 days after publication in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD) -- Firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the RFO -- This procurement is a total small business set-aside -- All responsible business sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency -- Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet -- The documents are in ASCII format and reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using client browsers, such as, MOSAIC -- The WWW address, or URL, of the MSFC Procurement home page is: ''http://procure.msfc.nasa.gov''.
