A -- ISOTHERMAL FURNACE LINERS SOL 8-W-5-10-71915 POC Contact Pamela White, GP25-O, 205-544-0337/Contract Specialist, or Jane Maples, GP25-B/Contracting Officer NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for high temperature isothermal furnace liners -- This procurement is being conducted under the NASA/MSFC MidRange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy on April 16, 1993 -- The isothermal furnace liners, or heat pipes, are for crystal growth and other materials science processing at temperatures up to 1500 deg C -- The desired isothermality is +/- 0.75 deg C along at least 11 inches of the heat pipe -- The total length is to be 12 inches with a maximum runout of 0.020 inches over the entire length at room temperature -- Three heat pipes are required with the inside diameter one inch and the outside diameter not to exceed 3 inches -- The unit would operate as a heat pipe between 1100 deg C and 1500 deg C for upwards of 1000 hours with 50 or more duty cycles to room temperature -- The design must be annular and open at both ends -- Heat will be applied to the outside of the assembly with the processing load held within the central bore of the tube -- For the selected containment material, the working environment (e.g. vacuum, inert gas, air), shall be specified, and the engineering data for protective coatings provided -- The estimated period of performance is 120 days -- Requests for copies of the RFO must be submitted in writing -- Transmission by facsimile to 205-544-9081 or by Internet e-mail to pamela.white@msfc.nasa.gov is acceptable -- RFO will be released on or about 15 days after publication in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD) -- Firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the RFO -- This procurement is a total small business set-aside -- All responsible business sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency -- Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet -- The documents are in ASCII format and reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using client browsers, such as, MOSAIC -- The WWW address, or URL, of the MSFC Procurement home page is: ''http://procure.msfc.nasa.gov''.
