59 -- ANALOG SUBSYSTEM FOR PBX-M PLASMA CONTROL SYSTEM DUE 031595 POC Sharon Warkala, Subcontract Adminstrator, Phone (609)243-2691, FAX (609)243-2021, E-Mail (Internet) swarkala@pppl.gov Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory is seeking sources capable of providing an Analog Subsystem for the PBX-M Plasma Control System. The Analog Subsystem will be part of a real-time digital control system for the PBX-M tokamak. The analog subsystem will interface with a SKYbolt I application accelerator through the SKYburst data port. The SKYbolt application accelerator and SKYburst data port are manufactured by SKY Computers, Inc.. The analog subsystem will perform signal conditioning, analog-to-digital conversion, and transmission of the converted data directly to the application accelerator through the data port. The system will initially use 48 ''slow'' channels and 8 ''fast'' channels. The slow channels will be simultaneously sampled and the converted data will be transmitted to the SKYburst every 100 microseconds. The fast channels will also be simultaneously sampled and the converted data will be transmitted to the SKYburst every 10 microseconds. The system should be incrementally expandable to accommodate up to 128 slow channels and 32 fast channels. The system shall include anti-aliasing filters. The slow channels require a 1 kilohertz low-pass filter. The fast channels require a programmable low-pass filter, covering the range 15 - 125 kilohertz. The digitizers must be capable of using an external clock source. Requirements for the analog subsystem's data transfer characteristics are as follows: 1) digitized data from all of the digitizers will be sent through the single SKYburst data port; 2) Duty Cycle: The digitized data will be transmitted to the SKYburst data port for a nominal 2-second period - the interface will be inactive for a period of several minutes thereafter; 3) no SKYburst interface bus activity shall occur unless the digitizers are actively 'digitizing'. Only existing products that have been demonstrated to operate with a SKYburst-type data port will be considered by PPPL. Interested firms should submit a written response to this notice indicating their interest in receiving a copy of the RFP or RFQ to be issued by PPPL and shall include: 1) product literature including data sheets describing the firm's product capabilities and functions including front-end analog characteristics; 2) a block diagram of the subsystem configuration; 3) two customer references. Responses are requested by March 15, 1995. Fax or e-mail responses will be accepted and are encouraged. (0065)
