The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, MD has a requirement for a through-hole azimuth optical encoder, DIGISEC Type RAL20/106(S) (4) (A)-1 Encoder or equal. This requirement shall include but is not necessarily limited to an encoder consisting of two separate units (the encoder in one unit and separate electronics in another unit), which shall be connected by a 10 foot cable. Additionally, the following salient characteristics apply to the Encoder: Size-10 inch diameter, 6 inch through hole, Rotor Pilot diameter- 6.10014/6.0010 to 1/2 inch minimum depth; Weight-maximum 25-30 pounds; Light Source- Hermetically sealed light emitting diode; Rotation-Counter Clockwise for increasing count; Resolution-20 bits with 18 bit accuracy; Stator Mounting Holes-3 holes equally placed on a 9.00 inch diameter, 1/4-20 UNC-2B X 3/4 minimum full; Rotor Bolt Pattern-8-32 NC-2B tap X 0.18 dp, 8 holes equally spaced on a 7.000 inch diameter bolt circle; Transducer Output-side exit cable from the optical unit, 10 feet long, to interface with separate electronics unit. Additionally, the following salient characteristics apply to the separate Electronic Unit: DIGISEC Separate Electronics or equal; Power- +6Vdc, -6Vdc; Hold input- High activates hold function; Output Circuits- Parallel, TTL. Additionally the following salient characteristics apply to the Electronics Unit Test Card: DIGISEC test card P/N 3060G1 or equal. It shall have light-emmiting diodes on front panel for displaying encoder output and shall test that encoder is counting properly. It shall also select number of bits tested and fit directly into DIGISEC Separate Electronics Unit or equivalent as well as allow encoder system testing with no additional test equipment. The unit must include these features but is not limited to them. The estimated delivery date for this requirement will be 180 days after contract award.
