McDaniel, Contracting Officer The Navy requires a total of 77 battery
drawers utilizing ''J'', ''BC'', and ''X'' size sealed lead acid (SLA)
cells manufactured by Hawker Siddely or equivalent. 29 drawers contain
''J'' size SLA cells and 31 drawers contain ''BC'' size SLA cells which
are connected in series using specially machined conductive links and
special design glass laminate blocks to provide protection. Material
and fabrication principles for links and blocks are in accordance with
ASTM B-465, QQ-C-576, Mil-T-10727, Mil-P-18177 and Mil-I-46058. 17
drawers contain ''X'' size SLA cells connected in series by soldering
(Mil-Std-454). Battery drawers are aluminum alloys (5052-H32 & 6061-T6)
and material/fabrication principles are to be in accordance with
QQ-A-250/11, QQ-A-250/8, Mil-Std-278, Mil-W-8603, Mil-A-8625, and
Mil-C-5541. Charge/discharge equipment is required to match cells prior
to placement within a drawer. Acceptance will be at destination.
Shipment shall be FOB NAVSURFWARCENDIV Crane. Delivery is required 182
days from date of contract award. All responsible sources may submit
