presolicitation notice. Bid packages are not available. This notice is
issued to notify prospective bidders of an upcoming project which may
be of interest to general contractors, in accordance with FAR 36.302.
When bid packages become available, the plans and specifications will
be available for inspection at the following locations, as a minimum,
without charge: US Property and Fiscal Office for Rhode Island,
Procurement Division, 330 Camp Street, Providence, Rhode Island
02906-1954; and Rhode Island Air National Guard Base, Civil Engineering
Building, 2 Minuteman Way North Kingstown, Rhode Island 02852-7546. The
quantity of bid packages, when available, will be limited. Therefore,
sets of bid packages will be given to general contractors only.
Subcontractors and suppliers will be encouraged to review the
specifications and drawings at no cost at the locations stated above.
Packages will also be available for purchase, when they become
available, directly from the printer. The scope of work includes, but
is not limited to, the furnishing of all equipment, labor and materials
necessary for the construction of Project Number TWLR001362 consisting
of a 19,800 SF New Base Engineer Maintenance Facility housing all
related maintenance shops and supporting administrative areas;
demolition and legal off-set disposal of four trailers and one Quonset
Hut; construction of a new storm drainage system; site work including
utilities, electrical, storm, sanitary, natural gas, communications,
regrading, retaining walls, and parking areas. The site is located at
the Rhode Island Air National Guard Base, Quonset Stte Airport, North
Kingstown, Rhode Island. In addition to the Base Bid work stated above,
the following Additive Bid Items (ABIs) are included: (1) ABI #1 -
Provide exterior wall Type ``A'' on north wall of covered storage area
(room 34); (2) ABI #2 - Provide finish carpentry, shelving, metal
storage units, woven wire partitions, lockers, utility sink, tack and
writing boards and 4'' concrete pad; (3) ABI #3 - Provide an insulated
skylight system; and (4) ABI #4 - Provide a stone masonry retaining
wall in lieu of the concrete retaining wall. All work shall be bid as
one job. The construction cost range is between $1,000,000 and
$5,000,000. The IFB will be available on or about 1 April 1995, with
Bid Opening on or about 10 May 1995. The anticipated contract
performance period is 12 months. This procurement is unrestricted under
the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program - SIC Major
Group 15. This project was previously set aside for SDB concerns and
subsequently cancelled. The Standard Industrial Classification Code for
