The U.S. Army ARDEC is seeking sources to study the high strain rate of deformation behavior of advanced tungsten based composites. This proposed acquisition is limited to HBCU's only. The initial research will focus on the study of mechanical properties, particularly material's propensity to shearband and individual material characterization. The experimental work may include unconstrained compression testing controlled end-ring constraining and sample testing to also include hat-shaped specimens. HBCU's with experience in this area should respond with summary of their proposed efforts in accordance with Note 25 within 30 days of this pbulication to Marc McCloud, Contract Specialist, Procurement Directorate, Bldg 10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000.
