Contact Dr. Michael E. McIlwain. Perform cooperative research with LITCO, the prime operating contractor for the Department of Energy at Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL). LITCO and the Very Early Time Electromagnetic Measurement (VETEM) consortium is seeking participants who have electromagnetic site characterization technology to participate in activities designed to establish state of the art baseline sensitivity for location of buried waste at the Cold Test Pit site located at the INEL. The electromagnetic frequency range of interest is kilohertz to gigahertz or greater. The objective of this baseline study is to demonstrate the intent of DOE and the INEL to establish cooperative research and development agreements (CRADAs) with interested participants. The participants will be expected to provide services, raw and processed data (processing to be defined prior to data collection), and consultation at their own expense. Under each CRADA, data modeling and interpretation will be provided by the VETEM consortium. All costs associated with establishment of site, plans, and safety documentation will be born by the VETEM consortium. Participants will be expected to provide technical expertise to the research and development program and have the financial and organizational structure to participate in the commercialization of the technology following the test and demonstration phase.
