The United States Postal Service is seeking sources to provide a material handling system to process large packages. This system, the Large Package Sorting System (LPSS), is to operate within Bulk Mail Centers and other U.S. Postal Service mail processing facilities. The prime purpose of the system is to process packages too large for our other sorting systems like the carousel and over-and-under types. The LPSS should also have the capability to process all our machineable packages. The proposed systems should be based on (with only minor modifications) working systems that are currently in operation.
