Notice of intent to negotiate on a sole source basis with the Steris Corp for the purchase of the following items: Steris System I Sterilizer. The Steris system employs a single-use concentrate of 35% peracetic acid and a unique anti-corrosive chemical formulation that is safe to dispose of, following use, in a regular sanitary drain. The unit shall be environmentally safe. The system shall be safe for heat-sensitive immersible instruments. The rapid low temperature, liquid chemical Steris process shall be accomplished within 20-30 minutes. The system shall contain an electronic system to monitor and maintain the parameters necessary to assure sterile processing. A hard copy printout at the end of each cycle shall be provided for Quality Assurance records. Sterilization can also be monitored by commercially prepared microbial biological indicators. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Steris System I processor includes a power cord and connector. To prevent overload and loss of any electrical power to critical equipment, a 20 amp, 120 dedicated circuit, terminated in a 20 amp hospital grade GFCI double receptacle is required. WATER REQUIREMENTS: The Steris System I processor requires a potable water source with the following specifications; Pressure = 40-50 PSI / Flow rate = 4 GPM at 40 PSI / Temperature =43 - 48 degrees C. / Connection = 3/4'' male hose connection / Quality = Potable/tap water / Supply line = 1/2'' inch I.D. minimum / Water usage = approzimately 13.3 Gal per sterilization cycle. DRAIN REQUIREMENTS: The outlet of the drain hose shall be above the drain water level or drain trap water leve by six inches. The drain shall be non-backpressuring, and if a connection is used, it shall be non-restrictive. The preferred drain type is a 1 1/4'' I.D. (minimum) stand pipe. It is the government's belief that Steris Corp is the only manufacturer capable of meeting the minimum needs of the government. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities to respond to this requirement by submitting technical and pricing data within 15 calendar days from the publication date of this sysnopsis. Information received as a result of this notice on intent will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the government not to open the requirement for competition based upon responses to the notice is solely within the discretion of the government. If no acceptable responses are received from interested parties, the government will begin negotiations with Steris Corp for the pruchase of the item listed above.
