planning to announce the opportunity to conduct space science
investigations in the Explorer Program using scientific payloads
launched with Med-Lite expendable launch vehicles. The opportunity is
limited to astrophysics and space physics scientific disciplines. The
Medium-class Explorer (MIDEX) Announcement of Opportunity will solicit
2 investigations which NASA expects to confirm for flight and to
launch before the end of 2000. Proposals are due June 27, 1995.
Beginning March 27, 1995, the Announcement will be available
electronically from the NASA FTP server. You can connect from an
Internet host with the command ''ftp.mercury.hq.nasa.gov.'' You should
use ''anonymous'' for the user name and enter your email address for
the password. Files containing the AO and the Appendices in various
formats are located in a directory entitled
''/pub/astrophysics/AOs/Midex''. Download the file entitled ''README''
which contains a listing of the MIDEX AO files and information about
retrieving the files electronically. If you are unable to retrieve the
Appendices electronically from the FTP server, you can request a paper
hardcopy version of Announcement AO-95-OSS-02 from: Explorers Project
