Maryland has a requirement to have a real time portable X Ray System
developed. The system will be used to interrogate relatively small
suspicious packages ranging from letter to parcel size packages. The
interrogation is to determine the nature of the contents and, if
required how to safely open or dispose of the contents. The system
shall operate with the Golden 200 pulsed X-Ray source, have a simple
and reliable use interface which allows the operator to collect, store,
and enhance images using simple operations, provide sufficient image
quality to detect .40 gauge wire, penetrate up to 0.25 inches of steel,
maintain a minimum 8-inch by 10 inch imaging area, and transmit images
as required over telephone lines for expert/off-site evaluation. Other
