R -- F-- ARCHAEOLOGICAL RECONNAISSANCE SURVEY SOL RG-01-95 POC Purchasing Agent: W. Richard Yarnell (615) 632-1584 TVA intends to enter on a sole-source basis a personal services contract with the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Anthropology Department (UTK) to conduct archaeological reconnaissance survey of the Melton Hill Reservoir. Currently, UTK is in the final stage of completing an archaeological survey of TVA land adjacent to Watts Bar Reservoir. The requisite survey for Melton Hill, which runs into Watts Bar, should be considered from an archaeological perspective as a continuation of the same project and research universe. Also, UTK has conducted archaeological reconnaissances and surveys, for TVA on tracts adjacent to Melton Hill Reservoir as well as this vicinity base of East Tennessee. UTK's archaeological database is uniquely designed for research for this portion of East Tennessee. UTK's excellent knowledge of this region and the resources involved, provides them with the unique qualifications to perform this service.
