This is a Research and Development Sources Sought Notice as defined at FAR 5.205. The Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center is seeking information regarding commercially available ATM swiches for the development of a Navy ATM Switch Specification for current and future land and shipboard based LAN and MAN ATM network applications. The basic requirement is that the switch conforms with the current telecommunication standards such as the ATM Forum UNI Specification 3.1 and all those telecommunication standards that will become available in the future (e.g. PNNI 1.0 and dABR rate based flow control). Specific information should include the switch fabric architecture, buffer architecture and management, switching mechanism, traffic control, congestion control, quality of service, signaling capability, network management functions, curcuit emulation capabilities, available physical interfaces. Additional information to be offered should include switch performance characterisitics, commercial applications, operational experience, space and weight requirement, suitability for use on naval surface ships, and development/production status.
