DATABASE ANNOUNCEMENT The Department of Defense Nondestructive Testing
Information Analysis Center (NTIAC), which is sponsored by the Defense
Technical Information Center to serve as the DoD's centralized
repository of nondestructive testing and evaluation information,
announces the availability of the Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE)
Standards and Specifications Database. Originally compiled by the Joint
Army, Navy, NASA, Air Force (JANNAF) NDT Subcommittee, this database
contains information on over 1400 NDT-related standards,
specifications, recommended practices, and requirmements from more than
40 standardizing bodies, including Government, ASTM, and Foreign
sources. Each record contains the document's title, source
organization, issue date, revision date, NDT method, document number,
and keywords. Most records also include an abstract of the document's
contents. Searches can be performed by keyword, source organization,
NDT method, title, document number, date, text string, or various
combinations of these. A floppy disk containing the complete NDT
Standards and Specifications Database, along with a users manual, can
be purchased for $150.00. This program operates is DOS or Windows, and
requires a minimum of a 286 operating system, 640K RAM, and 5 MB of
hard drive space. No separate database software is required to run the
database. Hard copy search results can also be purchased from NTIAC
for a search fee of $20.00 plus $1.00 per record. To order the
