This beach nourishment project is a continuation of Phase I (1.3 miles) of the Sarasota County Shore Protection Project. This segment of the beach at Venice, Florida is 1.9 miles long and begins 200 feet north of State DNR monument R-123. The quantity of sand required for this project is approximately 1,150,000 cubic yards. The sand will come from an offshore borrow area located approximately 15 miles south of the project area and 2.4 miles of Stump Pass in charlotte County, Florida. In addition to the beach nourishment, seven outfalls will be constructed or extended through the beach fill. Tow outfalls include the construction of training walls at Flamingo Ditch and Deertown Gully. Environmental protection and monitoring are an important part. Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 to $10,000,000. Pre-Solicitation Notice will be issued on or about 07 Mar 95.
