consists of the second phase of construction of the beach at Venice,
Florida. This beach nourishment project is a continuation of Phase I
(1.3 miles) of the Sarasota County Shore Protection Project. This
segment of the beach at Venice, Florida is 1.9 miles long and begins
200 feet north of State DNR monument R-123. The quantity of sand
required for this project is approximately 1,150,000 cubic yards. The
sand will come from an offshore borrow area located approximately 15
miles south of the project area and 2.4 miles of Stump Pass in
charlotte County, Florida. In addition to the beach nourishment, seven
outfalls will be constructed or extended through the beach fill. Tow
outfalls include the construction of training walls at Flamingo Ditch
and Deertown Gully. Environmental protection and monitoring are an
important part. Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 to
$10,000,000. Pre-Solicitation Notice will be issued on or about 07 Mar
95. Invitation DACW17-95-B-0031 will be issued on or about 16 May 95
and opened on or about 27 Jun 95. Cost of Plans and Specifications is
$40.00. (Non-Refundable) Checks should be made payable to F & A Mobile
District, and sent to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville,
