MODIFICATION DUE 042095 POC Contact Point, Elizabeth A. Edwards,
(317)353-3616, Contracting Officer, Richard A. Travis, (317)353-3616
This activity is seeking sources to modify existing survival radio
sets, manufactured by Motorola and known as AN/PRC-112(V). Background:
Survival radio set AN/PRC-112(V) is a hand held, personal survival
radio set that provides VHF/UHF AM voice communication and beacon and
PSK/OOK transponder communication to rescue forces utilizing airborne
ADF AN/ARS-6(V). The radio size is approximately 6''L x 3''W x 1.5''D
and approximately 28 ounces. AGPS appliqu is being considered for
integration into the AN/PRC-112(V), herein referred to as the
AN/PRC-112B after modification. The AN/PRC-112B must be survival vest
compatible and capable of operating in any global environment.
Modification of the survival radio set will include integrated GPS
course acquisition (C/A) code receiver, PSK modem to transmit encoded
GPS data over the existing UHF transmitter, a self contained (except
for UHF antenna) portable airborne base station unit that will
interrogate individual and group AN/PRC-112B and decode/display the
communications/GPS data burst from one or more AN/PRC-112B, preparation
of a data package (level II) applicable to GPS appliqu and its
integration into the AN/PRC-112(V), update of existing maintenance
manual, and functional testing of the system. It is anticipated that a
RFP will be issued 4th quarter of FY95. One thousand Motorola
manufactured AN/PRC-112(V) radios will be provided as GFE for
modification in the base year of the contract. Delivery of the modified
radio sets and 10 base station/airborne base station sets is desired to
commence 4 months ADC. Three contract options for modifying an
additional 1000 radios per option is being considered. Radio set
modification shall include a five parallel channel (Minimum) GPS C/A
code receiver with conformal antenna and minimal consumption of radio
battery power. System integration shall allow non-simultaneous
automatically selected radio set UHF transponder response to existing
airborne AN/ARS-6(V) Personnel Locator Radio Set and airborne GPS
location base system/airborne base station. Firms possessing the
capabilities to perform the requested work are invited to submit their
capabilities within 30 calendar days from the date of this notice.
Statement of capability, limited to 12 pages, should include as a
minimum, (1) evidence of past experience, (2) related programs and/or
existing systems, etc., (3) personnel qualifications, (4) whether or
not you are large business, small or small disadvantage business, and
(5) an operational concept of the GPS integration into the AN/PRC-112
and the airborne base station. Offerors are also encouraged to provide
the following information: Description and performance specification
of related systems, production lead times and schedules, approximate
cost for the initial quantity of 1000 modified radios and 10 base
station/interrogators. Only written responses will be accepted. This
synopsis is informal and for planning purposes. This does not
constitute a solicitation for proposals and is not to be construed as
a commitment by the Government nor does the Government intend to pay
for any information provided under this synopsis. Provide comments,
capability statements and responses to Elizabeth Edwards of this
