66 -- ULTRA HIGH VACCUM (UHV) STM SYSTEM SOL N00014-95-JR02 DUE 050595 POC Contact Point: Contract Specialist, Jerry Riles, 601-689-8978; Contracting Officer: Kevin King, 202-767-2120. Requirement is for an UHV STM System to be utilized as an interface and analysis tool for STM microscopy and spectroscopy. The UHV STM system shall consist of full UHV compatible components capable of operating at 10 to the negative 10 power Torr pressure in UHV. The Torr base pressure shall be bakable in-situ to a minimum of 150 Degrees C. The UHV STM system shall: (a) have vibration isolation and thermal stability to minimize drift and allow atomic resolution, (b) have an 8'' UHV flange mounted system, (c) have side and front sample introduction capability, (d) consist of heater stage with sample temperatures up to 1200 Degrees C, (e) have sample and tip garage arrangements with magnet tip mounts, (f) have manual X translation with 5mm minimum motion and optional Y translation of 5mm minimum motion, (g) consist of software capable of operating STM instruments and have STM microscopy capability. The software shall operate on 486 based computer systems, (h) be an IBM PC compatible data acquisition system, (i) have a data analysis system, (j) have microscope with external mount, (k) and be capable of external access to STM current and system voltages. Shall be accompanied with operating and maintenance documents. Installation documentation shall also be included. Complete minimum requirements shall be included with the solicitation package. A firm fixed-price type contract is anticipated. Prospective vendors should request in writing, a copy of solicitation number N00014-95-R-JR02 to be issued on/about 05 May 1995 with approximate closing date thirty days thereafter.
