The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) proposes to procure a quantity of 12 each, with an option for up to 20 each, Hand Held Thermal Imagers with scope and accessories, on an unrestricted, competitive basis. Systems should be man-portable, light weight (less than 10 lbs), small (490 cubic inches or less) and ruggedized for field use. Capable of performing within the following parameters: shall operate with standard batteries or other power sources to minimize logistics support requirements; viewer options should include both direct and indirect view with micro monitor capability; field of view options should include 4.5x power and 9x power lenses or similar, to allow long range viewing; system mission profile from 600 to 1500 meters with resolution and clarity equal to or exceeding 230 cycles per picture width, equivalent to 460 pixels horizontally. Detector cooling can be achieved electronically or by other means not requiring significant support arrangements. Use of rechargeable high pressure air bottles is not acceptable.
