The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, VA requires development of prototype 5 ampere and 2 ampere shock hardened MIL-C-55629 equipment-type circuit breakers, and a shock hardened version of the MIL-C-39019 circuit breaker. The contractor shall deliver developmental drawings and prototype circuit breakers, 5 units of each size and rating required. The estimated period of performance is one year. A prior solicitation for development of prototype 10 ampere shock hardened MIL-C-55629 equipment-type circuit breakers resulted in only one offer from SPD Technologies, Inc., Philadelphia, PA. Award of this follow-on effort to other than the original source is likely to result in substantial duplication of cost that could not be recovered through competition. Interested sources should provide a statement of their capability to perform this requirement, including proposed technology and past experience in developing and producing shock hardened equipment-type circuit breakers.
