303/966-2270 EG&G Rocky Flats, a contractor to the U.S. Department of
Energy, is seeking commercial parties to further develop, test, and
license a unique Antibody Screening Assay. Developed to detect the
presence of antibodies to beryllium, the enzyme linked immunosorbent
assay shows potential to detect antibodies to several other metals and
materials. The assay is presently being tested on silicon and shows
potential as a low cost technology for testing women with breast
implants. The assay is used; (1) to identify individuals exposed to
hazardous materials, (2) to monitor individuals progress in eliminating
the material, (3) as a quantitative risk assessment tool in beryllium
clean-up projects, and (4) as a health surveillance tool aid in
establishing means of exposure. U.S. Patent #5266499 was issued for the
assay method and is available for licensing. This is a federal
technology transfer project and may be conducted under a form of
cooperative agreement or other arrangement. (0075) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0018 19950317\A-0018.SOL)
