668-3477. Provide all labor, material and equipment necessary for the
Drydock Repairs to the USCGC HAWSER. Work for these Drydock repairs is
to be performed at the contractor's facility. Competition for the
subject availability is geographically restricted to the protected
waters from the Rhode Island/Connecticut Border to the Hudson River,
north to Troy Locks, New York and south to the Coast Guard District
One/District Five Boundary, Toms River, New Jersey. The work which may
be performed includes but may not be limited to the following minimum
items: 1. Renew Vermiculite Coating in the Forepeak, Main Hold, and
Lazarette 2. Modify Sewage Tank Assembly 3. Clean Dip and Bake the
NUmber One and Two Ship's Service Generators 4. Renew Stern Tube 5.
Remove, Inspect and Reinstall Propeller Shaft 6. Align Main Propulsion
Engine 7. Clean and Test Grid Coolers 8. Overhaul, Renew and Test
Valves 9. Remove and Reinstall Propeller 10. Overhaul Steering Gear
SYstem. Proposed contract will also contain indefinite items including,
but not limited to: 1. Welding Repairs 2. Renew Waster Pieces 3.
Preserve Underwater Body 4. Ultrasonic Testing 5. Preserve Diesel Fuel
Tanks 6. Perserve Sewage and Grey Water Collection and Holding Tank(s)
7. Perserve Potable Water Tank--USCGC HAWSER's homeport is Governor's
Island, NY--vessel is 66 feet in length-- USCGC HAWSER's Availability
Schedule is 10 July 1995--There will be a non-refundable charge
required in the form of a certified check or money order made payable
to the U.S. Coast Guard in the amount of $50.00 for requested drawings
and publications--The proposed contract listed here is open to both
large ans small businesses--Plans and specifications will be issued on
or after 03 April 1995--All responsible source may submit a bid which
shall be considered by the United States Coast Guard. For Minority,
Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business ENterprises: The Department of
Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts.
Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at
prime interest rates up to $500,000 per contract to provide accounts
receivable financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enable firms
to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $500,000 per
contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a
