23 -- TACTICAL WHEELED VEHICLE SOL DAHC77-95-R-0014 POC Marge Ginoza, Contract Specialist, 808/438-6539; Phyllis Glasgow, Contracting Officer, 808/438-1604 The Government intends to negotiate with AM General Corp., of South Bend, IN, on a sole source basis, the purchase of six each Heavy HUMMER, Variant Mdl M1097A1, tactical wheeled vehicles with all the standard equipment plus optionals, less the Standard Integrated Command Post Shelters (SICPS) componentry, for the Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA), Hawaii and the Island of Oahu. The HUMMER has the required configuration of high clearance wide profile and heavy duty suspension necessary to traverse the difficult terrain of lava fields at PTA and the off-road hilly and rocky terrain of range areas on the Island of Oahu, to accomplish the fire-fighting mission. The vehicle will be used to mount fire-fighting equipment consisting of a 250 gallon water tank with diesel driven water pump. Vehicle must have 2-doors, soft top, 100 amp, 24 volt alternator, to include the following options: central tire inflation system, underbody skid protection, spare tire carrier, brush and headlight guard and winch. Army currently has a fleet of similar vehicles manufactured by AM Corp., therefore, repair parts, maintenance and repair personnel and facilities are readily available at all Army installations thorughout Hawaii. The vehicle is approved by TROSCOM. Authority is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), only one responsible source and no other type of supplies will satisfy agency requirements. See Note 22. (0079)
