COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 22,1995 PSA#1308U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, Attn: MA/STP, 320 21st
Street, NW, Washington, DC 20451 66 -- INSTRUMENTS AND LABORATORY EQUIPMENT - POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT
Contact Mary Fannin, 202-647-8018 or Jennifer Inman, 202-647-6465, FAX
202-647-7663. The U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency (ACDA) is
seeking potential sources to supply inspection equipment for evaluation
and use in training of inspectors of the Technical Secretariat of the
Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The U.S.
Government has been notified that the Provisional Technical Secretariat
(PTS), predecessor to the Technical Secretariat of the Organization for
the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), a new international
organization created by the Chemical Weapons Convention, is beginning
the process of procuring inspection equipment for the evaluation and
use in training of inspectors. Examples of chemical weapons inspection
equipment include: hand-held detectors, GC-MS, non-destructive
evaluation (NDE) equipment, seals, infrared spectrometer,
communications equipment, global positioning system (GPS), military
detector kits for CW agents, and generators. The PTS has requested that
each Member State identify potential companies interested in supplying
such equipment. Upon receipt of names of interested companies, the PTS
will compile a tender list for each type of equipment. Because this
information could be considered commercially sensitive, all responses
will be classified as confidential by the PTS and will be treated
accordingly. Interested companies must answer a questionnaire providing
company and product information and return it to the PTS in The Hague,
The Netherlands as soon as possible. Packages containing the
questionnaire and specific information about equipment needed by the
PTS can be obtained by contacting Mary Fannin (202) 647-8018 or
Jennifer Inman (202) 647-6465; FAX: (202) 647-8333. Please Note: This
is the third announcement (the first was published August 26, 1994; the
second, November 9, 1994) because lists of additional equipment needed
have been issued since the previous announcements were published.
