70 -- BULLETIN BOARD SOFTWARE Contact Point, Freddie D. Moses, 504/255-5911, Contracting Officer. The Department of Agriculture, office of Finance and Management, National Finance Center (NFC), intends to explore technology and evaluate bulletin boards. Sources are sought for original software producers of an overall bulletin board. The current operating environment is based largely on IBM's SYSTEM ES 9000 series computer hardware, operating under MVS, supplying government users worldwide with business application information services. Companies who specialize/produce software within this environment are requested, at no cost to the Government, to provide technical information regarding capabilities, methods, and availability for evaluation of a bulletin board. This bulletin board should have the following capabilities: (1) word processing (2) personal computer interface and (3) mainframe computer interface. In addition, the bulletin board should also be able to be updated dynamically. It is also requested that a published list of prices for any or all of these technologies be provided. This is NOT a Request for Proposal. There will be no contract award resulting from this effort. The Government will use the capabilities of the marketplace. Full descriptive literature demonstrating technical compliance with the above requirements should be submitted within 30 days of this notice. (079)
