This is an economic diversification effort conducted by Westinghouse Hanford Company for the Department of Energy (DOE), Richland Operations Office. The goal of this effort is to transfer the DOE facility described below to commercial use. This supports the Secretary's commitment that the DOE will ``take an active role in helping the community diversify its economy and seed the creation of new jobs''. Westinghouse Hanford Company, Richland, Washington, is accepting shows of interest from interested parties to lease space in the 401 Facility or to purchase this building. This Building is located approximately 11 miles north of the city of Richland, Washington and is situated at the Hanford Site in what is referred to as the 400 Area. The 401 Facility was built in 1977 to serve as the Visitor's Center for the 400 Area facilities. The original cost of the facility was approximately $219,200. The DOE has abandoned any specific mission for the 400 Area, and as a result, the 401 Facility is available for alternative uses. The 401 Facility is a single story building, consisting of approximately 3500 Sq Ft and containing an open exhibit area, conference auditorium, kitchen, restrooms and various utility and office support areas. Individual tours and consultations will be scheduled upon notification. A packet with additional information will be provided upon request. The term of the lease can be up to ten (10) years and can include an option for extension or can be sold out right depending upon the proposed use and the compatibility with the intent of the site.
