Support Activity (T-ASA) proposes to establish a requirements contract,
consisting of a base year and four option years, for shipboard audio
entertainment systems (SAES). The systems shall utilize
commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment, modified only where
necessary to meet the Government's functional, performance or physical
specifications. The systems will be used in U.S. Navy surface ships to
supply four (4) channels of audio entertainment to ship's force. The
system will employ compact disc players, audio cassette players, and FM
receivers as programming sources. The system will generate four (4) RF
FM signals for distribution over shipboard RF distribution systems. In
addition, the system will provide four (4) 70 volt audio signals for
distribution over shipboard circuit SE systems. The system shall be
rack mounted. Ancillary and supporting efforts to be provided by the
contractor include training, technical manuals, repair parts and
engineering services (which may be accomplished at CONUS and OCONUS
Naval Installations). The successful contractor (supplier) of the
systems will be required to produce a first article system, for the
purposes of testing to ensure compliance with the Government's stated
requirements and specifications for the SAES. The Government's
estimated maximum quantity for the five year period is one hundred
twenty-one (121) systems. The solicitation package is estimated to be
issued in April 1995. No telephone requests for the solicitation
