COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 23,1995 PSA#1309NATO/IRIS ACTIVE SYSTEMS SPECIALITY GROUP MEETING General Notice: The
NATO/IRIS Active Systems Specialty Group Meeting, is to be held 15-19
May 1995 at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. This is a
joint meeting between the IRIS Active Systems Specialty Group and the
NATO Panel 4 Research Study Group (RSG)-13 Countries only. This meeting
will feature a national Secret-level program focused on both U.S. and
European military laser efforts. The meeting will offer a unique
opportunity to share information through the Atlantic Alliance and to
meet with the NATO government and industry representatives who are
conducting military laser programs. The meeting starts on Monday
afternoon with a group of tutorials directed to the fundamentals of
active systems as they apply to the military. The tutorials cover:
Laser Radar Overview; Laser ATR Fundamentals; Laser Radar Detection
Statistics; and Solid State Laser Radar. The main program on Tuesday
through Friday will focus on the following areas, as well as additional
topics: (1) Laser Systems for Airborne and Surface-Based Platforms -
Reports on major systems in development or evaluation; (2) Combat
Identification - What direction is laser combat identification taking
in Europe and in the U.S.?; (3) Laser-Based Terrain and Obstacle
Avoidance - What is the current status and the prognosis for
laser-based terrain avoidance?; (4) Precision Weapons Laser roles in
autonoumous and semi-autonomous weapon guidance at all levels; (5)
Laser Application to Ballistic Missile Defense; and (6) Laser Component
Technologies - What is new in supporting technologies? The Meeting is
Classified U.S. Secret-Releasable to NATO RSG-13 Panel IV level. U.S.
attendees must be DoD Contractor and/or DoD Government. Foreign
Attendees must have a Secret Security Clearance and the visit must be
sponsored by their Embassy or Government in the form of an ``RVA'' and
processed through established official channels. The meeting is
administered by the Infrared Information Analysis Center located at the
Environmental Research Institute of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. For more
