651-5376 The US Army Natick RD&E Center is conducting a Market Survey
for guided, high glide aerial delivery systems and/or components for
delivery of munitions and equipment. Natick is considering a technology
based developmental effort to demonstrate an aerial delivery capability
for payloads of 5,000 lbs minimum (with a goal of 10,000 lbs) and a
lift-to-drag ratio of 6:1 or greater. The delivery method will be
extraction from C-130 aircraft traveling at airspeeds up to 150 KIAS
(knots indicated air speed) and at altitudes up to 25,000 ft above mean
sea level (MSL), and deployment from the UH-60 and CH-47 aircraft at
lower airspeeds and altitudes. Guidance and control of the system may
be autonomous or man-in-the-loop, and will not be a major focus of this
effort. This market survey will be used to assess the commercial
availability of potential concepts pertinent to this effort. Natick is
interested in obtaining information on existing systems, components or
equipment that are currently available or can be scaled or otherwise
modified to exhibit these capabilities. Critical factors affecting
potential candidates for this program are demonstrated performance,
extent of scale-up or other required modification, and approximate cost
of the system including estimated costs of any modifications.
Interested companies must submit to Natick a description of the current
system or component with demonstrated glide ratio, payload capacity and
other performance characteristics. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATION
PURPOSES ONLY. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST
