means of this notificatio the Netherlands advised that in the framework
o vehicle authorization (Article 3.2.40.1.) and th permanent
requirements (Article 5.2.51.Sub-Ection H), vehicles may deviate from
the provisions concerned. This anticipates the expected adjustments to
Directives 76/756/EEC, concerning installation regulations for
lighting units on motorized vehicles, last amended by 91/663/EEC. The
deviation permits the presence of a centre high mounted stop lamp for
vehicles which are submitted for registration in the Netherlands or
which are registered in the Netherlands. 7. Objective and rationale:
Order 48, concerning installation regulations for vehicle lighting has
been amended by the ECE. This amendment has been in force since 9
February 1994. One of the amendments concerns the installation of a 83
category stop lamp (centre high mounted). As a signatory to this order
the Netherlands is obliged to accept vehicles which comply with the
amended version of Order 48. In anticipation of an adjustment of
Directive 76/756/EEC to bring it in line with ECE Order 48, first
revision, the Netherlands will register vehicles and permit their use
when a centre high mounted stop lamp is installed. 8. Relevant
