The contractor will provide appropriately trained and licensed pathologist to perform pathological examinations of tissue specimens submitted by the Federal Medical Center/Federal Prison Camp. These services shall include gross and microscopic examinations by fresh frozen sections or by fixed sections, surgical pathology, hematopathology, dermatopathology, as well as special evaluations of specific tissues, such as liver fine needle aspiration and cytology. Other services will be performed as requested. The contractor must be available to pick up STAT specimens within 60 minutes of notification from the FMC/FPC, and supply oral results within one hour from the time the contractor has received the specimen. The contractor shall provide a board certified Pathologist who will make monthly visits to the Federal Medical Center's laboratory. The visit will include but not limited to the folowing: review of tissue cases for the tissue committee, review of transfusion cases and evaluation of pathological conditions, review of slides as presented on problem cases for second opinions. The standard industrial clarification code for this acquisition is 8071. The proposed contract period will have a one year base period from the date of contract award with four (4) one year option periods. The solicitation will be available approximately April 11, 1995.
