Commercial Capabilities for Reducing the Emissions of Clean Air Act Pollutants-- Environmental Systems Division (YAQ) of Human Systems Center (HSC) at Brooks AFB is seeking firms with a technology or system to reduce the amount of airborne emissions on diesel engines, to include particulate, hydrocarbon (ROG), NOx, and CO. Submissions should identify how the approach is capable of reducing NOx on a 50-150hp diesel engine down to 4 g/bhp-hr for operation by 1 January 1999. Options are open for potential use of dual fuel to include diesel (JP8) as one of the two, and a clean fuel for the other to allow operation in an air quality restricted location. Information on device or system should include: (1) percentage reduction on NOx, particulate, hydrocarbon, and CO, including testing data results; (2) life cycle costs; (3) systems level inputs and outputs of the device; and (4) modifications necessary to implement (connected to trailpipe like a catalytic converter, attached to a follow-on cart, requires cylinder injection, etc.).
