99 -- MAIL MACHINES SOL DTOS59-95-R-00014 POC Contract Specialist, Phaedra Johnson, 202/366-0742, Contracting Officer, Richard Lieber, 202/366-4954 The U.S. Dept. of Transportation intends to issue a sole source firm fixed price contract to National Mailing Systems Inc. for the following equipment: 5 MOS VPS-II Peripheral workstations to include 100 pound scale platform, w/thermal printer, bar-code wand, 3 megabyte of ram memory, 12'' display screen and keyboard, 335 HAS mailing machine, Interface with MOS VPS-II, with contract maintenance agreement for one year and 4 option years on the above machines and will be for one base year and 4 option years of meter rental for the above 5 machines. This equipment must be able to physically connect and communicate with existing MOS VPS-II machines. This acquisition approach is based on equipment compatibility and cost consideration. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, as a result of analyzing responses to this synopsis of intent, the Contracting Officer may determine that a solicitation will be published. (0082)
