FIRE RETARDANT This is an informational notice. Fire retardant boxes are no longer necessary for use when shipping material to U.S. Navy ships. This is due to recent changes in Navy policy based on a defense management review decision, and improvements in more sophisticated and effective aspects of the passive fire protection program. Fire retardant cleated wooden boxes IAW Federal Specification PPP-B-601H were furnished previously by Helena Industries in conjunction with the National Industries for the Severely Hanicapped (NISH).
