Penny S. Parker, 601-688-1705. The Wind Profiler System is a Doppler
radar which measures wind speed and direction in a vertical profile. A
Wind Profiler Demonstration Network, consisting of 30 profilers
installed in the central United States, California, and Alaska, is now
in operation. The National Data Buoy Center indends to solicit
proposals for five (5) coaxial-collinear antennae to be used with wind

existing structures located at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California,
in Homer, Alaska, and in Wolcott, Indiana; the remaining two antennae
are to be installed at sites in Alaska which are now undetermined, and
will require complete structural installation. The frequency of
operation is 449.0 MHz; power level 1.5 kilowatts minimum average power
and 9.0 kilowatts minimum peak power; beams electronically switched
with beam-pointing positions at zenith and 4 orthogonal positions at 15
