Parker, 601-688-1705 Thirty-two Wind Profiler Systems were competitively procured from Unisys Corp., Great Neck, NY 11020. The RASS was an ''add-on'' system which enables wind profilers to measure upper air temperatures, as well as wind speed and direction. The RASS Test Set will consist of 4 dummy loads (to simulate acoustic transducers), 1 electronics assembly, 1 modified Profiler signal processor, 1 microVAX PROM set, and manuals. The RASS Test Set will be installed at the NOAA National Reconditioning Center at Kansas City, Missouri, for use with the wind profiler test set. NDBC intends to negotiate only with Unisys for this test set as they are the manufacturer of the existing network wind profilers and RASSs. The RASS test set software and hardware (with the exception of the acoustic transducers, which will be simulated by dummy loads) must be identical to the existing systems.
