The Wind Profiler System is a Dopler radar which measures wind speed and direction in a vertical profile. A Wind Profiler Demonstration Network, consisting of 30 profilers installed in the central United States, California, and Alaska, is now in operation. The National Data Buoy Center is soliciting proposals for four (4) radar power amplifiers for use on wind profilers. The radar power amplifiers will operate at the frequency range of 445.0 to 450.0 MHz, with minimum peak power of 9 kilowatts and minimum average power of 1.5 kilowatts, with input pulse durations of 0.6 to 10.0 microseconds (uncoded) and 1.6 to 30.0 microseconds (coded).
