66 -- LABORATORY SENSOR INSTRUMENT SOL N00014-95-R-CR07 POC Alan W. Crupi, Contract Specialist, Code 3220.CR, Contracting Officer, Wayne A. Carrington (202) 767-2550. The Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for eight (8) each portable fluorescence-based fiber optic sensor instrument with 115 VAC lump in cord power supply. The instrument must be capable of simultaneously monitoring four (4) optical fiber probes. The instrument must be compatible with long partially clad 600 micron diameter fused silica optical probes used in the evanescent wave configuration. Each instrument must weigh less than 4 pounds with dimensions less than 6'' x 6'' x 12'' (w x l x d). The instrument must be able to excite fluorophore Cy5 (excitation maximum is 650 nm) with detection of emission wavelengths greater than 670 nm. The excitation light source can be shuttered for various lengths of time (adjustable by operator) to prevent photobleaching of fluorophores. The instrument must have four fiber optic harnesses (jumpers). The harness or jumper transmits optical signal to and from probes to the sensor instrument. The instrument must be able to interface with a DOS-based laptop computer via RS-232 connector. The software used to operate the instrument must display in near real time the fluorescence signal vs time for all four probes simultaneously. A vial of index matching fluid, at least 0.5 ml, must be provided with the instrument. This requirement also consists of one thousand (1000) each fiber optic probes. The probes must be polished, 600 micron core diameter fused silica, tapered tips, and able to interface with the instrument. The minimum length of the probe must be 20 cm. FOB destination, required delivery is 60 days after receiving order. The solicitation will close 30 days after issuance. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered. Telephone requests for this solicitation will not be honored. Send requests for solicitation to: Contracting Officer, Attn: Code: 3220.CR, Naval Research Laboratory, 4555 Overlook Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20375-5326. Facsimile requests may be sent to (202) 767-5896/6197. Reference Synopsis CR07. (0083)
