Medium Data Rate (MDR) Satellite Data Link Standard (SDLS) Review. DOD
is soliciting interested industry participants for the review of the
draft MIL-STD-188-136, the MDR SDLS, which is based on validated Joint
Staff interoperability requirements. This draft standard describes
common waveforms, signal processing, and data formats for military
systems requiring space/ground communications links operating in 44/20
Ghz bands for uplinks and downlinks respectively, at data rates from
4.8 kbs to 1.544 Mbps(T1), with extensions to 30+ Mbps. Industry
organizations interested in participating in this review must be a
prime contractor or subcontractor on an active government contract for
EHF MILSATCOM equipment, and must demonstrate a need to know to obtain
the classified MIL-STD-188-136. All potential reviewers must provide
the following information to Mr. Angelo Battistuz, DISA Center For
Standards, Squier Hall, Bldg 283, Ft. Monmouth, NJ 07703-5613 NLT 28
April 1995: (a.) Contract Number and name and phone number of
contracting officer and COR. (b.) The CAGE Code of the facility where
document will be stored. (c.) Name, phone number and security clearance
of proposed custodian of document. Additionally, the security clearance
must be verified by the individual's Facility Security Officer and
forwarded to the address above. A unification meeting will be held at
Logicon Corp., Reston, VA in mid August to adjudicate received industry
comments. Details pertaining to this meeting will be provided to
industry reviewers in a separate letter. All information provide by
industry participants shall be nonproprietary and furnished at no cost
to the government. Organizations participating in this effort will do
so at their own expense. This announcement alone will not obligate
DISA/JIEO/CFS or any other government organization to reimburse any
